I was leading my team of commandos on a very delicate and sensitive mission. The objective was to infiltrate a building on foreign soil, rescue hostages, neutralize the enemy and make it safely back to base with all the hostages and my men. To accomplish this a fine eye to tactics, weapons management and manpower must be observed if the mission is to be a success.
Rainbow Six captures all the realism and excitement of a Tom Clancey novel in a PC game. In the game you are the leader of an elite commando Squadron made up of various specialists from around the world. Game play is based on you the player being the"six" (team leader), planning and organizing very precise and well choreographed missions infiltrating various terrorist hideouts. As each mission is completed a more sinister plot is revealed.
Before a scenario begins, you are briefed and given all
available intelligence reports necessary for the mission. Then you select which team members you are going to use. Pay particular attention to this phase of the game, I didn't in the beginning and it cost me dearly. Spend a lot of time in the practice area developing your weapons and tactical skills. Once a team is selected then you must arm them. After they are armed a step by step plan must be designed by utilizing the overhead 3d planning map.
PERSONNEL:
There is a roster of 20 characters to choose from. They all
come from various Special Forces groups around the world Weapons, skills, personality, stamina and experience all play a vital role. Each character is the best of the best at what they do. In this game you are fighting International terrorism so it's only appropriate that your fighting force reflects an international flavor. Managing your personnel properly is essential to this game, when starting a mission it's very crucial you assign and deploy your forces properly.
WEAPONS:
You have a wide array to choose from. Make sure you allocate them properly, each team member has their own specialty and this will reflect in the weapons that are best suited for them.
TRAINING:
Special Forces in real life practice everyday, do the same in this game. At first I didn't and I got my but kicked all over the place.
GAME PLAY:
Head to head, single or multiplayer over the Inertnet.
Playing by yourself really is boring except for practice. Team play over the Internet is where the action is. Check it out at Mplayer.com there is a huge Rainbow 6 community here. Playing head to head online is the most exciting way to play most games and this is one of the best.
RATING:
This is a definite joystick up with Dagameboyz seal of approval rating.
