Burn It All - Journey to the Sun is a new iOS game that's bound to be a huge hit! After Bulkypix provided it to me last week, I've spent a lot of time playing and enjoying it. It's currently $0.99 on the App Store, and it's fantastic. I think we'll see it on a lot of phones in the future! It's fun, you can jump into and play it in one minute chunks, and you can sink a lot of time into it if you want. You can try to get through levels quickly or you can try to make perfect runs. It features a simple concept but builds on this concept throughout the game.

The gameplay starts out relatively simple. There's a flame in the bottom right corner and ropes hanging in the level. Drag the flame to the end of the rope to ignite it. The fire then travels along the rope, burning it, while the flame returns to the corner where it'll recharge and be ready to ignite something else. Once all the ropes, wood, or anything else burnable is burnt, you win (if you beat the timer)!

Remember how I said it builds on the core concept? In some levels, bats fly around, getting in your way. Some ropes have knots. When fire reaches a knot, it'll split and move down all paths of the rope that are connected to that knot. The game also begins to iterate through variations of the game mechanics. Different types of ropes are introduced. Some burn extra slowly, and some burn extra quickly. Some levels contain geysers that will blow your flame. This can be bad because it'll blow out your flame; however, in some instances it can be helpful as it blows you into burnable material. In later levels, you can even unlock additional types of flames. One flame lets you ignite ropes or wood from any edge rather than just the end of the rope. For example, you can ignite a rope in the middle. The fire will then spread down both directions, burning the rope twice as fast than if you had ignited the end. There's a third flame to unlock as well, but I'll let you discover that one on your own!

Certain levels feature something called time warp. First you complete the level like normal with one of the flames. When time runs out, the level resets. Now you get to complete it again with a different flame. The twist is that your actions with the first flame from your first run will occur concurrently. You might start with the basic flame, lighting all the ends before time runs out. Then if you're given the flame that lets you ignite ropes in the middle, you'll ignite every rope in the middle knowing that as you do that, you'll see the initial flame go around igniting all the ends. It's very fun and feels like a natural progression of the game mechanics. Like a lot of iPhone games, Burn it All features multiple worlds. Each world consists of many levels, and on each level you can unlock up to three gems for completing it fast enough. Whether you want to plow through the levels or retry, aiming for perfect runs is up to you. I earned every gem in the first world but eventually gave up because I wanted to see the later content faster. After I beat the game, there was still plenty to do by going back to try to do better.

Burn it All works with Open Feint and Game Center game networks. It also contains a variety of achievements to unlock for meeting goals such as collecting a certain number of gems, beating levels in a certain amount of time, and killing a certain number of bats. Everything looks great in the game too. It features colorful graphics, good sound effects, and no crashes or errors of any kind. I was very impressed.

Some iOS games end up on everybody's devices, and I think this is going to be one of them. It's a perfect iPhone game. It can draw me in for hours but only requires a minute. It has lots of levels. It let's me go for perfection if I want to try. It builds complex and incredibly fun levels based on simple mechanics. If you have an iPhone, you should pick it up from the App Store for $0.99!
