World Cyber Games (WCG), the recognized leader for international video game competitions, hosted the Second Annual Holiday Heroes Tournament this December 12 and 13 at The Samsung Experience in New York's Time Warner Center. Over 6,000 fans and holiday shoppers watched some of the biggest teams from around the nation shoot, fight and scratch it out in Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2®, Street Fighter IV™ and DJ Hero™ to win their share of cash prizes and Samsung electronics.
A dozen of the sharpest shooters in the world competed in the recently released mega-hit Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® to earn respect, cash and electronic prizes. When all the grenade smoke cleared, Team MoB Evil claimed first place and $2,000 in cash as they narrowly beat Team Fear. While bullets were flying in Modern Warfare® 2, fists of fury were flailing during the Street Fighter IV tournament. Outlasting over 135 combatants was champion Joe Cairamelli who took the $1,000 first place prize.
Additionally, the weekend featured the first walk-up tournament for the new music game - DJ Hero™. Throughout the weekend, any of the 6,000 patrons who crossed the Samsung threshold were invited to try their hand as a DJ and get the highest score. After the record stopped, Michael Najman put together the best score and walked out of The Samsung Experience with a crystal clear Samsung Monitor.
As with all the weekend events held at The Samsung Experience throughout the year, those fans chomping at the bit to see the action could catch it all by logging onto YouTube's video on demand.
